Dangers of Amanita Muscaria Mushrooms
As the Amanita Muscaria Mushroom “The Legal Magic Mushroom” continues to gain popularity we want to make people aware of the potential downside to the “Amanita Mushroom” and the rumors that they are poisonous, toxic and unsafe. If you were to eat them fresh without proper processing, that is true. The key is how they are prepared. Once prepared properly, the risk of toxicity is extremely low. The process of removing the toxicity is referred to as decarboxylation and this is the process, we use in all our Amanita products.
Formulating Amanita Mushrooms
We formulate and sell Amanita Muscaria products in Gummies, Sprays, Capsules and Shots. Commonly referred to as “decarbing” for easy pronunciation, decarboxylation is the process of removing the carboxyl group of a chemical structure. It’s a non-negotiable part of the Amanita mushroom preparation phase and an essential part of the process to “make clean” the material for safe consumption.
Decarboxylation
Decarboxylation is the chemical process that gets rid of the carboxyl group in a chemical structure by releasing it as carbon dioxide (CO2). Let’s break it down for a clearer understanding:
> De = remove
> carboxyl = two groups connected to a carbon
> ation = the process of
So, it’s the process of removing two groups connected to a carbon molecule.
Decarbing a chemical makes a whole new chemical. In the Amanita world, that means you’ll be converting ibotenic acid (the compound that causes the reported adverse stomach effects of consuming the mushroom) into Muscimol (the psychoactive compound that causes the desired pleasurable effects).
Remember, decarboxylation releases CO2 (comprised of one carbon atom and two oxygen atoms). Conveniently, ibotenic acid (C5H6N2O4) requires one less carbon atom and two fewer oxygen atoms to become muscimol (C4H6N2O2), making decarbing the perfect process for the job.
Fresh Amanita Mushrooms
Fresh Amanita mushrooms mainly contain ibotenic acid and little muscimol. Sadly, ibotenic acid has some undesirable side effects, and toxicity while muscimol has been shown to produce great healing effects. So, by decarboxylating ibotenic acid into muscimol, the toxicity of Amanita mushrooms can be reduced, and the pleasurable reactions are released along with being safer for the user.
